Perspectives of stem cell-based therapies in asthma and allergic rhinitis (summary)

Regenerative medicine is currently the fastest growing branch of medical science and stem cells have already been applied in treatment of a great number of degenerative and inflammatory diseases. Recently, numerous stem cell-based therapies used in experimental models of asthma or allergic rhinitis were shown to suppress allergic inflammation and limit the extent of airway remodeling. The present report summarizes current knowledge on perspectives of the application of regenerative medicine methods in treatment of allergic airway diseases.
