Disorders of thyroid hormone secretion as a complication of melanoma immune therapy - case report (summary)

The presented paper describes a case of a 69-year old female with disseminated malignant melanoma without BRAF V600E mutation who was treated with nivolumab, a novel PD-1/PDL-1 monoclonal antibody and experienced an autoimmunological side effect of initial hyperthyroidism, which then transformed into hypothyroidism. The reasons of immunological side effects and current guidelines for their treatment are discussed.
